1. An operating system

2. Middleware

3. Key mobile applications

Android has been built on the openLinux Kernel to help developers generate compelling mobile applications that takes maximum advantage of the handsets. It uses a custom virtual apparatus, which is designed to increase memory and hardware resources. All applications can be built to have the same access to a device's potential, offering users a wide range of applications and services. Users of devices constructed on the Android can customize their phones - they can change the phone's homescreen, dialer style or even instruct the phone to utilize its preferred photo viewing application.

Motorola Droid Review
Change Wave Research believes that the Motorola Droid is the greatest Android phone till date and the biggest competitor for the iPhone. With sharp edges and angular looks, this cell phone line proves its difference from other smartphones, most of which are rounded and sleek. Motorola Droid has a 3.7 inch screen with a resolution of 440?854 pixels.

A high-end, solidly-built cell phone, the Droid is thinner than most of its QWERTY slider counterparts. The keypad has flat keys, which are larger than most others, and therefore more comfortable. The Droid also utilizes a micro-USB to charge. The device has a 3.5mm audio connector at the top and a 5MPx camera, along with a dual LED flash behind. A rear speaker that proves handy during games and for the conferencing mode is situated beside the battery compartment. A shutter button for the camera provides greater stability than screen tapping or trackball pressing. The best part about the cell is its web browsing capacities. The Motorola Droid also offers good email support.
